Advocacy Matters
While landmark legislation such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 1975 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 that protects the rights of children and adults with disabilities has enhanced the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities, there is more to be done.
Now more than ever, people with disabilities need to be active participants in their communities and a lively political voice. In addition, the families and friends of children and adults with disabilities can be strong advocates. Together, we can influence legislation and public policy that will ensure people with disabilities lead active, independent lives.

Volunteer
There are many different ways to volunteer at IICDF as an individual or a group. These include:
- Clerical/general office assistance
- Conducting mock job interviews
- Assisting at an event
- Acting as a guest speaker
- Organizing a fund raiser
Tutors for Business Math and English are needed for our adolescent and adult programs. Tutoring can be a great community service project for high school and college students, Boy and Girl Scouts, Honor Society Students, school/summer break, etc. For more information, contact

“Since I founded IICDF in 2013, our goals have been to prepare youths and adults with a variety of disabilities for entry or re-entry into the workforce and assists them in securing pre-employment services as well as employment so that they can enjoy independent living, full community participation and economic self-sufficiency.”
